2026 Easter Egg Run

This is a big one…..
Today’s started at 8 a.m. at the Diplocks Cafe.
Thank you so much to Niall and his team for looking after us this morning.
We were joined by members from Rolling Rides.
Thank you so much for supporting us.
Finally got to meet Tom Sutton, a real pleasure to meet Tom today.
A pleasure to meet Tracy again with her hair cut off. She did this for charity, very admirable indeed.
I didn’t recognise her to begin with.
We started off with a briefing at 8:30 a.m.,this was conducted by myself and Paul Asquith- Brown, our Road Captain
Black Widows MCC supported by members of Rolling rides lined up and departed for the Conquest Hospital in Hastings specifically the Kipling Ward.
This is the children’s ward at the hospital.
We presented several hundred eggs and Easter bags with non-edible gifts for children who can’t eat chocolate.
We also gave the ward £500 in Amazon vouchers.
The rolling rides then headed off to the Butchers Hook Cafe and a number of members carried on to Madeira Drive with us, where we met the South Coast Mods.
It was great to see “Diggers” again and Dave Lister who leads the event from that point onwards.
We enjoyed catching up on the last year and some more refreshments.
1201hrs , we lined up with the South Coast Mods in the front Black Widows MCC behind.
Dave Lister on his Harley Trike, skillfully led us through Brighton.
He navigated a slightly different route.
The route was lined with people taking pictures and recording the event, it was a really amazing ride.
We arrived at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and was met by Karen Buss.
A pleasure again to see Karen
We filled two huge trolleys full of eggs, at least 800 before I lost count.
Karen invited our President, Dan McLusky and several members to the ward, to see the environment and to meet a mother and a child with permission.
This was very moving according to my colleagues and made what we’ve been doing for many years, that bit more important.
The joint venture with the South Coast Mods has been going on for four years, both organizations have been doing it for many years before that individually.
Joining forces has made us stronger together.
We share common values.
We enjoy this joint effort.
A far cry from the conflict of the 1960s between the Rockers and the Mods.
Thank you again to the Rolling Rides people that came out today.
We rode well together.
It looked good,we moved over the ground very well.
Black Widows donated £500 to the Hospital today, and we came along with vouchers from Peter Joannou Brighton’s Singing Barber for £232.
Very greatly received indeed.
Jake Jay, a friend, a client and a member of Temple Lodge in Brighton, donated some eggs, for which we are very grateful.
All those people that gave us eggs, who are too numerous to mention individually, but you know who you are….Thank you so much. You are the people that make this event happen year after year
Thank you to my colleagues in the Black Widows MCC,for all the work they do throughout the year, helping make this happen and supporting each other in the way that we do.
Thank you again to ‘Diggers” and the wonderful people in the South Coast Mods that make this spectacle, so exciting and rewarding.
Great to meet Christine today,a client and friend who works at the Hospital, who popped over to say hello, is much appreciated.
Glyn Croxton Senior, Herr Napper and Dan Briscoe, who injured his hand and managed to join us in pain.
Thank you to Dave Lister, who’s been supporting this event for some years now, and skillfully leads us through the Brighton City Centre safely and efficiently to The Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital.

2025 Toy Run

Objective achieved.
Black Widows left for the final stage of the visits at 8 am this morning.
We headed over to Demelzas, St Leonards-on-Sea,where we met Melissa and were invited in to take some photos and share the bags of presents and donated 500 pounds of Amazon vouchers.
It was good weather today again.
A small detachment of us went to see Gavin Fisher and his lovely staff at the Children’s Respite Trust in Uckfield.
We dispatched bags of presents and another 500 pounds in vouchers from Amazon.
We also gave each of the organisations we support one of our window stickers.!!!
Final destination was the QVH in East Grinstead, specifically the Peanut Ward.
We dispatched several bags of presents, provided 500 pounds of Amazon vouchers and a window sticker!!
En route one of the side panniers hit the ground on a roundabout taken too low and bounced off down the road.
It was retrieved by Lee Baker, one of our prospects.
It’s been a great few days,
We’ve learned a lot about each other and how we function as a group, and that the local community are a very tight knit group who care…
We’ve delivered over 500 presents maybe more.
The total value of presents runs to many thousands of pounds.
We donated vouchers of 3,000 pounds plus a contribution to the CREW weekend for youngsters who have had life changing injuries where they can socialize with similar people and help regain their confidence.
This is run from the QVH.
The next objective is the Easter Egg Run.
Again a massive thank you to all those that helped us, all the shops all the people, all the local organisations and of course to all the members that got stuck in and made a massive difference.

The Inaugural Annual Dinner

On Friday 16 May, a number of members of the Order of St George along with partners and friends gathered at the elegant County Club in Guildford for the inaugural annual dinner. We were also honoured with the presence of the Magisterium Officium of the Order and the UK Grand Prior, The Chevalier Stuart Notholt GCStG KMStG.

Hosted by Dame Joanna Cadman DCStG and assisted by the Deputy Grand Prior of the UK, the Chevalier Keith Homewood GCStG KMStG, the evening started with a fizz reception before moving to the dining room for a delicious 3-course meal with wine. There were even flowers for the ladies present, courtesy of Keith!

After the meal, Dame Joanna proposed the toast to the King and followed it with a short update on the progress of the South East Commandery and some of its forthcoming plans, as well as presenting Chevalier Karl Hopper-Young KStG with a certificate to mark the Commandery’s new association with the Black Widows.

Chevalier Stuart Notholt then gave us a broad update on the successes and general direction of the Order and how, in many respects, the Order continues to punch above its weight. He concluded his address with a toast to the Order of St George.

All in all, it was a splendid evening of food, wine and camaraderie!
